WEINWANDERUNG FEST

Twice a year, the quaint village of Freinsheim in the Deutsche Weinstrasse region, hosts a wine fest. The wine fest is known as a 'weinwanderung' or 'wine migration'.  Every January and September, wine growers set up a wine-tasting and culinary trail that meanders through the vineyards.  Along the 4-6 km trail, there are various food tents serving up traditional German fare (brats, dampfnudeln, etc), as well as fresh oysters and pastries, small fires to warm those fingers and toes, port-o-lets (in case you were wondering)....and need I mention the wine tents?
