LJUBLJANA, SLOVENIA
AUGUST 2007
This was my 2nd trip to Ljubljana and I loved it just as much the second time around. This trip, we stayed about 3 km outside the city center (1.8 miles) at a truly lovely hotel, Hotel Mons (http://www.hotel-mons.com/en/design_hotel/). LOVED IT! Mom and I shared a suite in room 102, for which there is a popular song in Slovenia. We are pretty sure whatever the words are for the song 'Room 102', it has nothing to do with a mother/daughter trip..... Anyway, the hotel offered free breakfast (which was divine), free shuttle service to the city center and lots of extra luxuries. The service could easily rival a Ritz-Carlton...the place rocked. Again...I'm blown away by the quality of hotel/service offered here for the low price. It won't always be like this, so I'll enjoy it while I can.
While hitting the town, we came across another jewel of a find...Enoteca. Enoteca is a small, hip wine bar in the main part of Ljubljana (http://www.enoteka.si/). Since Mom and Dad own a wine store back in Orlando, we had to check out the Slovenian wines (which are often difficult to get in the US). We fell in love with the place and ended up hanging out there for a good 4 hours, making good friends with the two men working there. Should you visit Ljubljana and have the desire to enjoy some local wines (or not...they do carry a variety)...this is a must! Tell them Stephanie and Christine sent you.....
