SLOVAKIA

 Flag ratio: 2:3

Slovakia is a beautiful little country that covers about 19,000 square miles and is home to 5 million people.  They became an independent country in January 1993 during the Velvet Divorce, separating Czech Republic and Slovakia from their former union as Czechoslovakia.

The northern portion of Slovakia is highly mountainous, as the Tatras Mountains spread long and high up to 8,700 feet.  The Tatras are shared with neighboring Poland and are some of the most pristine, beautiful and mesmerizing mountains I've seen.  The area is a popular ski area in the winter, hiking in the summer.

And I'll add that Slovakia has some of the best ice cream I've tasted!
