Dublin, Ireland
JANUARY 2007

We made the decision to splurge a bit and ring in the New Year with style. So, we chose to visit Dublin for a second time and were able to finagle reservations at the Clarence Hotel (owned by U2's Bono and also one of his many homes).  For some silly reason, us crazy Americans thought there just MIGHT be a chance that Mr. Bono would want to spring in for a surprise hello during the holidays, so we kept our eyes peeled for him, but no Bono.  The hotel offered a lovely New Years Eve champagne/dinner party that ran from 7:30pm through 'til the wee hours of the morn. We managed to hang in there until 2am, but with our cab collecting our semi-drunk selves at 6am, we attempted to catch a few hours of sleep.

Our dinner and New Years was lovely.  We met some great folks from the U.S, London and Australia.  One of the things we've treasured most during our travels are the friends we meet along the way.  It really makes an impact on whether our travels were good or stellar.  This trip, due to our location along the River Liffey, the relationships we developed, and the vast amounts of alcohol consumption made this trip stellar (well...at least until the champagne and wine started wearing off...then it was a bit painful).
