BRUSSELS, BELGIUM
MARCH 2005

The capital of Europe!  We stayed at the Royal Windsor Hotel which was just around the corner from the 12th century Grand Place.  French, Dutch and Flemish are the languages primarily spoken here, so between the English and German we know, it didn't help too much.  But, we faired well enough. Chocolate, mussels and beer seem to be universal enough!  And boy, were they good.  Brussels is a mix of old, grandiose architecture and new, modern as well.  An interesting mix that you'll see on every street. Amidst the 800 year old buildings, you'll see internet cafes and bright neon signs.  But within the very center of Grand Place, you feel as though you are centuries back in time and here to visit a King! Or at least eat like one!
